SunbathingSouthern California is a favorite spot for Sunbathing. It's a culture all its own, and some people pay tanning salons just for a tanned look. Sunbathing is healthy: healself.org/sun.html The sunniest beaches and best weather for tanning on the California Coast naturally occur on Beaches from LA County to Orange County, south to San Diego County. The Sun shines the same above all beaches, except for some spots with cliffs. Some beaches have rocks and cliffs, but most also have nice sandy areas good for sunbathing. Shade from buildingsand cliffs can be easily avoided e.g. early morning. The Southern California climate is warm enough all year: Air temperatures average around 75 daytime and 68 nights during the summer months of July through October. Winter temperatures average around 69 degrees during the day and 56 at night. Temperatures inland, especially some deserts, like around Palm Springs, can be warmer than at the beach. A good SunScreen should be used if you plan to tan for over 20 minutes in the Sun mid-day. Ratings of SPF 30 or 40 stop sunburn better than lower SPFs. If you want no tan lines, check out Nude Beaches. |
